Battered antique Japanese tansu, with two drawers with brass handles.

The wood is a mahogany red, with the bevelled edges in a much darker shade.

The top panel is two sections, with a big square hole cut out of one of them and the remains of a cement like glue.
The bottom drawer has a large chunk missing and a split.
There is Japanese writing to the underneath but unfortunately I can not translate.

Would make a great upcycle project or, left as is - a lovely old wooden box with loads of character!
