Vintage panelled Art Deco oak pipe cabinet. Four drawers, mini compartments.

Really unusual cabinet, very well made. Photos do not do this justice! I believe this could have been handmade by an apprentice, as there are loads of carpentry techniques going on. Almost too many! 

The top has a bounce bevelled profile with a parquetry border. There are lots of marks to the top, possibly where someone has stiked matches. 

The side panels are beautiful. 2-4 cuts of oak (at least two. There are four different shades of wood) overlaid to create a 3D decorative panel. 

The back panel has visible screws, and gouged circular marks (old indents, they look really good!), and two screw holes for wall hanging.

The base is a replica to the top, with bevelled corners but with out the parquetry design. 

The front of the cabinet is fully glazed, with a locking mechanism (no key yet. If I find one to fit I’ll update the listing). 

Inside is a bizarre but cool design. The bottom drawer is full width, with a strip of wood attached for decoration. Above the big drawer is a shelf space with cut outs for 6 pipes. Above this are two curved mini shelves with three holes each. 

There are a further three drawers at the top. Two half width drawers and one full width drawer with dividers giving six compartments. 

There is a geometric pelmet sitting in front of the curved mini shelves, I’m not sure why! 

Everything about this cabinet screams quality workmanship. If a corner could be bevelled or rounded off, it has been. The joints are mortise andy tenon and can be seen on the frame edges when the door is open.

Even the cute button style handles, made from two types of wood, are beautifully rounded off. Sadly one handle has split, so it’s just two pieces of wood (please see photos).
