Vintage handmade mechanical mining chonk.

I bought this from a man who was clearing his father in law’s loft after he’d passes away. He was a miner in Leicestershire abs made this in c1980 after the pits started to close.

It has six brass plates (5 need re-attaching but I’ve left loose for ease of mending), which attach to a steel conveyor belt with two teethed sections.
There is a red plastic dimes light fitting, and faux coal made from foam.

Underneath the coal effect are wires and cog mechanisms.

I didn’t know this was a working model when I bought it. It doesn’t function at the moment and sadly I don’t have the know how to fix it. So I can’t say how this works. But I would love to see it functioning!

An unusual souvenir from times gone by. Rare and collectable.
