Large scratch built teak desk tidy organiser. Originally made as a school/apprentice project to hold cassette tapes. Sadly not much use for cassettes, but could have other uses, miniature books, jewellery, or just as an unusual large wooden display. Amazing quality and totally unique. Made from hardwood (I believe to be teak), with contrasting dovetail joints. Mounted on a wooden base, with a large curved wooden frame holding lots of small acrylic pegs. The back of the unit has a Perspex panel. Housed underneath the arch is a beautiful miniature wooden box, with dovetail joints and a shaped foam insert. There is a small book to hold the lid closed when in position underneath the arch. However, this was glued to the base but has come unglued. I haven’t reattached as I thought the box was far too pretty to hide under the arch, so have left loose. When in position and the lid is opened, the two pins that hold the box closed slot neatly in to two cut-outs on the base. The formed arch appears to be made from a solid piece of wood, although I’m bot sure how! On the top is a wonderful curved topped storage area, with lift off lid and contrasting joints. The lid has a hole drilled through the depth, large enough to hold a pen (I’m not sure that’s what it was made for). The base is lined in red felt. Excellent condition for age. A real showstopper!
